Saturdays 5K Track TT saw the riders faced with windy conditions. I managed to take an early lead in the event with a time of 7:45 by using the cunning tactic of starting off first. Tim Metcalfe was another early starter putting himself into the lead as fastest youth rider at 8:17 but it was Paul Rogers that showed everyone how it is done clocking the fastest time so far at 7:24. Lynne Beighton set that fasest time amongst the ladies with 9:24 before quickly being overhauled by Kate Evans in a time of 8:29. Paul Rogers felt that he could have ridden faster and made use of a spare slot to have another go but came in 4 seconds slower than his previous time. With the strength of the wind increasing, Andy Walters put in a big effort to beat Paul but had to to settle for second, 9 seconds back. Josh Burke finished in a time of 8:10 to take the lead as fastest junior while Ed Puttock moved into third spot, 17 seconds behind Paul Rogers. The last few riders did their best to upset the leader board with Richard Walkerdine taking the title for fastest youth in 7:48, Alan Phillips challenging for the win but coming in 19 seconds short and Todd Hotchkiss just edging out Josh Burke as fastest junior by a single second (although Josh remained fastest Wheelers junior). Following Paul Rogers example Ed Puttock decided to have another go (in another spare slot) and proved his consistency by recording exactly the same time as his previous attempt. With all of this going on, we also had some of our younger riders having a go at a half distance TT, with Georgia Hilleard proving to be the fastest of the three in a time of 4:53 ahead of Jamie McDonald in 5:07 and his younger brother Ewan with a time of 7:15. The days results were rounded off by Cathy Brewerton who took the handicap win as the most improved rider.

Thanks to Craig Ansell, Ron Ansell and Pete Hartill for time keeping and holding up. The last event in this years TT league is this Tuesdays 10 mile TT up at Gailey.
