The first Hilly TT of the year found the riders enjoying some warm sunshine at last. A total of 15 riders took the reckless decision to attempt the course about half of the whom had never tried it before (the other half should really have had more sense). All of the riders completed the course although Josh Burke decided to give father Gary a sporting chance of beating him by adding in an extra three mile loop. Mike Williams clocked a sub one hour time, demonstrating the superior quality of Fred Williams equipment at very reasonable prices (I'll be in tomorrow for my discount!). However it was triathlete Paul Rogers who notched up his second win of the season in a time of 53:01. Dave Starkey continued his campaign to win the TT league by taking second at +35 seconds, moving up him from 10th to 7th in the League. Rob Burns produced another solid performance to take the final podium spot at +2:00. The handicap competition proved highly controversial as the club handicapper (ie. me) took the handicap win for the night ahead of Dave Starkey by 35 seconds, the result has been referred to the clubs time trial secretary for further investigation.
Next week sees another opportunity to ride yourselves to exhaustion on the hilly course.
Thanks to Matt Nicholls for running the event and to Pete Hartill for time keeping.
