Saturday's 5K Track Time Trial started cold but warmed up in the sun giving an advantage to the later starters.

More riders were trying the event for the first time but it was regular youth competitor Adam Lewis that took an early lead with a time of 8:11. Josh Burke in his first try at the event put up a tough early challenge to Adam, just missing out by 9 seconds and promising to be back in August for another go. The McDonald family were out in force with 9 year old Jamie setting a time of 5:36* ahead of younger brother Ewan who managed to clock 7:45*, while 11 year old Ross was only 18 seconds slower than Dad Alistair (ominous signs for the future Alistair?). A flying Pete Escritt, utilising a special new breathing technique and being coached by son Jack, set the time to beat, raising the target to 7:04. Jess Ansell was on next and managed to knock a further 13 seconds off her time from Monday, an improvement that proved sufficient to take the days handicap win. Paul Rogers looked the rider most likely to knock Pete Escritt off the top spot but had to settle for second place, 10 seconds off the pace with a time of 7:14. As the event neared it's end Kate Evans put in a big effort to clock a rapid 8:21 and snatch the prize for fastest lady.

Thanks once again to Craig Ansell and Pete Hartill for time keeping and to Ron Ansell, Gary Burke and everyone else for holding up.
